Self-consciousness will never disappear
At least not mine. Oh yeah, it's here to stay.
It's built into me, in my inmost tier,
Nestled in my mind. It's very clear
To me at least (and it is no surprise
I've thought about it) that I would not be
The person that I am if I could rise
Above my self-examination. See,
I can't imagine it. It's me, and mine,
And I'd be someone else if it were gone,
Although that someone might not realize.
So in a way it's useless to define
That part of me; it's me, so in it lies
My self-identity. I can't move on.
