Imagine if the cat could talk. I know,
It almost seems as if he did already,
But think of it. Real words! Then he could show
A grateful world the fascinating, heady,
Exciting feline universe, and tell
Astounding stories of his sense of smell.
Who am I kidding? You and I know him;
He would not speak a word unless enticed,
Or struck by some suprising, random whim.
Maybe he'd ask our help in some great heist,
But otherwise, we safely may assume
A talking cat would be no different
Than what we have: curled up in a warm room,
Lazy, but with insidious intent.
