Sidelong

I see you look sidelong at me, stealing
A moment's observation as I catch
Your eye and turn away again, reeling
From recognizing how we came to snatch
A little bit of watching at the same
Time as each other - and I'm fairly sure
The gleam within your eye probably came,
Much like the one in mine, from a deep stir
Further inside you. For I look at you
Simply to drink the beauty of your face
And while you do not get an equal view,
I doubt I err when I detect a trace
Of love in you - it's certainly in me...
I note you seem to like that which you see.
