Invitation

Curl up against me, and let time slip by;
Who cares what storms may howl on outside
When we two can in warmth and quiet lie
Entwined together, letting such things slide
Unnoticed past our windows? Hold my hand,
And let my fingers tangle up in yours;
Together we can mutually withstand
Whatever trouble builds up out of doors
Because it will not matter, if we two
Can cuddle up inside. Let us be one,
And let's ignore the rest. I'll cling to you,
And you to me; consider that part done,
What else can matter? Come and sit by me,
And everything is just as it should be.
