Improved

I'd like to be a better man
Than I know I have been so far;
And I believe - or think - I can
Because I've seen so many are.
I cannot think that I am less
Capable of being good
Than they all are, and, I confess,
I'd really like to think I could
Be even better than them all
And so I must improve a lot;
If I cannot, then it will gall
And make me question what I've got.
So in the future I will be,
I hope, a better sort of me.
