Chicago is a city that I love
Not crazily, hardly head-over-heels,
But patiently, and calmly, and above
All else, productively. It feels
As if my love for this Midwestern city
Makes my life better, in a solid way.
It isn't that the skyline is so pretty,
Although it is, or that I love to sway
Dancing in the parks - though that I also do -
But rather, that Chicago, on its own
Is just pleasant to be in. Yes, it's true,
This stockyard railhub factory has grown
Into my heart, and I am glad to be
A resident - though I still miss the sea.
