Cold Outside

Today of all days there are two of us.
No more, no less, exactly what there should
Have always been. I think it's obvious
That two and only two is what I would
Prefer. You know I love to see you here,
And so you also know I love to be
Close by your side, without another near,
So that the world contracts to you and me.
My happiness is at its most complete
When you and I converse alone together,
And though it may be sickeningly sweet,
I've come to like all this inclement weather
Because you want to cuddle close and stay
And let the rest of life just fade away.
