Jointure

I have not had an hour since you left
In which I did not think of you - my dreams
Have been reflections of you. From that cleft
Between us, I can see the feeble gleams
Of brighter days, high up and far away,
When you will be once more with me, and we
Will joy together and no longer stray
Into the doom of separability.
Of course I know that is a fantasy,
And there's no way that I can make you stay,
But there's a comfort in it, though I see
It is unstable in a shallow way,
For in the deeper heart of it, I know
That neither one will let the other go.
