Queasy

Denial isn't healthy, but it's easy:
The easiest, indeed, of all the ways
To deal with things that make you kind of queasy,
And muddle on in an unreasoned haze.
But being easy doesn't make it right;
It's safer to be fully self-aware.
For in your heart of hearts your second sight
Will tell you what, perhaps, you do not dare
Admit self-consciously - what you deny
Is still out there, still looming, still to come.
And if you choose to give yourself the lie,
It may be easy, but it sure is dumb.
So I'll admit I'm leaving, and be sad
Rather than pretend - and then go mad.
