Counterclaim

Self-knowledge is the hardest victory,
And hardly worth the winning when you do;
Who wants to suss out every mystery
Inside of you, including even you?
It hardly seems worth troubling about
When you consider what you could have won
With much less effort. Sure, there might be doubt,
But just ignore it so you can have fun,
And everything will seem OK. Explore
Nothing but a hedonist embrace,
And there will be no need that you do more.
Except when you desire final grace
And see the limit of yourself was void
Unthought, and useless, though once much-enjoyed.
