Waiting

A hundred years from now I will not be
Prepared to say what I must say, and so
I might as well just sigh and let it go,
Because it's easier than setting free
My inhibitions, which have clung to me
So long and so effectively. Although
When all is analyzed, I find I know
What I should say and how, I cannot see
A way to say it without fear of loss,
And I hate losing anything. Of course,
I might not lose, and if I do not try,
I cannot win; yet though I try to force
That thought into my mind, it cannot cross
My inhibitions; so I simply sigh.
